Welcome back to Signed and Scrubbed, a monthly roundup of hospital deals, developments, and bankruptcies.

Arkansas was big in the news this time around. Yes, seriously, Arkansas! Here’s your June 2026 roundup.

Adena Health. After trying and failing to merge with Columbus-based OhioHealth, 222-bed Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio, announced a new merger with Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health on June 1. The agreement will need government approval to go through.

Baptist Health. Little Rock, Arkansas-based Baptist Health officially started running El Dorado, Arkansas-based, 151-bed, South Arkansas Regional Hospital, on June 14.

Community Health Systems. On June 1, Franklin, Tennessee-based Community Health Systems announced it would sell four Arkansas hospitals to Joplin, Missouri-based Freeman Health System for $110 million. The facilities include 128-bed Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, 222-bed Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, 64-bed Northwest Medical Center–Willow Creek Women’s Hospital in Johnson, and 73-bed Siloam Springs Regional Hospital in Siloam Springs, according to a release

West Suburban Medical Center. The for-profit Oak Park, Illinois-based hospital (174 beds) officially closed on June 11 after its last elevator broke down, the Chicago Tribune reported. The remaining patients had to be moved to other providers.

UNC Health. Onslow County Board of Commissioners approved a merger between Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based UNC Health to acquire Jacksonville, North Carolina-based, 162-bed Onslow Memorial Hospital, Becker’s reported on June 22.
