Welcome to this month’s On Rotation, our roundup of who’s in and who’s out at healthcare companies ranging from industry leaders to small startups. Let’s jump straight into May’s announcements.

Drew Altman. The founding president and CEO of policy research, polling, and news nonprofit KFF will retire at the end of this year, the organization announced May 27. KFF’s current EVP for Health Policy Larry Levitt will become CEO, and current EVP and COO Mollyann Brodie will succeed him as president.

Alleen Delpierre. Agentic AI solutions provider IntelePeer announced Delpierre as VP of strategic alliances on May 7. She previously handled strategic partnerships at healthcare AI agent platform Hyro, per her LinkedIn.

Gianrico Farrugia. Mayo Clinic’s president and CEO since January 2019 is stepping down at the end of 2026, the Rochester, Minnesota-based healthcare system shared on May 12. The board of trustees is expected to elect a new president and CEO in November for a Jan. 1, 2027, start date.

Stephen Hahn. The ex-FDA commissioner is bringing his expertise to biotech Turn Therapeutics. The startup announced Hahn as its executive clinical and regulatory lead on May 18. In this role, he’ll be overseeing the company’s clinical and regulatory strategy for GX-03, an investigational eczema therapy that is currently in a Phase 2 clinical trial.

Neil Lindsay. Amazon Health Services is parting ways with current SVP Lindsay and replacing him with Roy Schoenberg, co-founder of telehealth company Amwell, effective July 1. The tech giant announced the digital healthcare leadership change on May 27.

Karen Massey. Immunology innovator Argenx shared on May 6 that Massey had been promoted from COO to CEO. She succeeds Argenx co-founder Tim Van Hauwermeiren, who had been CEO since 2008.

San Oo. AI company Abridge Healthcare tapped Oo as its new chief technology officer on May 21. He comes to the job after over a year as SVP of engineering at workplace productivity service Notion.

Jonathan Piazza. Biotech Diagonal Therapeutics announced Piazza as its CFO on May 5. This is his third time as CFO at a biotech startup. He previously held the same title at Orbital Therapeutics, which was recently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb, and Silverback Therapeutics.

Emad Rizk. Tech-driven healthcare improvement company Premier announced Rizk as its new CEO, president, and board chair on May 5. He was most recently chairman, CEO, and president of healthcare analytics company Cotiviti, per a press release. He’s replacing Michael Alkire, whose departure was announced in January.

Vitor Roque. Becton, Dickinson and Company’s interim CFO has dropped the “interim” from his title and permanently been appointed as CFO and EVP on May 7. He had been interim CEO since December 2025, when prior CFO and EVP Chris DelOrefice left the company to become CFO of Ulta Beauty (quite a career pivot!).
