Welcome to On Rotation, our monthly roundup of recent healthcare executive moves.
From health systems to health insurers, August was a busy month for c-suite appointments. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
Bradley Bolivar. Same title, new company. Bolivar became Centene’s new chief information officer on Aug. 31 after three years in the same role at financial services company Fannie Mae. He succeeds Brian LeClaire, who plans to retire by the end of October.
Michelle DiNapoli. Biotech Replimune Group appointed DiNapoli as its chief commercial officer, beginning on Aug. 18. She was previously SVP of biopharma Deciphera Pharmaceuticals’s US commercial division, according to her LinkedIn.
Donald Frei. On Aug. 10, medtech Penumbra announced the neuro-interventional surgeon as its new associate chief medical officer of neuro.
James Holland. Humana announced Holland as its new SVP and president of Medicaid, effective Aug. 17. Holland spent the past seven years as president and CEO of Johns Hopkins Health Plans.
Julie Sawyer Montgomery. Danaher, a life sciences and diagnostics innovator, promoted Sawyer Montgomery to the role of president and CEO, effective Oct. 1. Prior president and CEO Rainer Blair will stay on as a senior advisor until March 31, 2027.
Joshua Pinto. Neumora Therapeutics, a biotech focused on brain diseases, announced Pinto as its new president and CEO on Aug. 14. He succeeds co-founder Paul Berns, who will become executive chair.

Shantanu Nundy. Humana has appointed Nundy its new chief medical officer, effective Aug. 31. The role had sat vacant since Kate Goodrich left in October 2025 to work for UnitedHealth Group’s Optum.
Peter Pisters. After nearly nine years at the helm, the president of Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center plans to retire at the end of September. EVP and chief physician executive Jeffrey Lee has been appointed interim president, UT MD Anderson announced on Aug. 26.
Charles Roberts. After 11 years at Memphis, Tennessee-based St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Roberts is getting a promotion—to president and CEO. The health system announced Roberts’s new role in an Aug. 18 press release, and he’ll officially take over on Jan. 1, 2027. He is succeeding James Downing, who in February announced plans to retire.
Kevin Smith. Renton, Washington-based healthcare system Providence St. Joseph Health announced Smith as its incoming CFO on Aug. 19. He’s currently serving as CFO of St. Louis, Missouri-based health system SSM Health and is set to transition to Providence on Oct. 26.
