Welcome back to AI 411, a monthly roundup of tech announcements from across the healthcare industry.

This month, Utah became the first state to allow AI to write initial prescriptions for acne treatment through tech company Nolla Health. While healthcare continues to change, we’re here to make it easier to stay on top of things. Here’s your AI breakdown for October 2026.

Suki. AI scribe company Suki shared on Oct. 13 that it completed a $90 million Series E fundraise with investment from Healthier Capital, Crosslink Capital, and Hercules Capital. The company said it’s expanding its scribe’s capabilities to aid in additional operations like revenue and clinical reasoning.

UCSF. UCSF Center for Reproductive Health and Conceivable Life Sciences announced plans on Oct. 26 to create a UCSF Fertility Excellence Center to improve IVF care. The university’s embryologists will use health tech Conceivable’s Aura platform, a virtual, automation-assisted IVF research lab to test ways to further standardize IVF treatment to help improve outcomes for patients.

UnitedHealthcare. UnitedHealthcare has extended its generative AI virtual assistant Avery to 21 million commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid members—surpassing its initial goal of reaching 20.5 million—the company told us on Oct. 8. The tool, released in March, helps answer member questions related to, among other things, scheduling, cost estimates, and benefits.

Zoom. On Oct. 20, Zoom announced its ambient scribe, Zoom Clinical Notes, can now be embedded into the platform and generate clinical documentation for visits in person as well as on video or by phone. If the provider’s integration configuration allows, the notes can also be shared with electronic health record systems using open APIs or browser extensions.
