Our rundown of Movers & Shakers for May 2023

Alice Hm Chen: Centene’s chief health officer is to take on the role of executive forum cochair of the Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network, a private-public partnership aimed at improving the industry’s adoption of alternative payment models.

Kevin Klauer: The chief medical officer (CMO) at HCA Florida Ocala and West Marion hospitals has joined clinical training health tech company AMOpportunities (AMO) as a senior advisor for strategic partnerships. The former American Osteopathic Association CEO is expected to help AMO expand its university and clinical partnerships.

David Mauro: The former Codiak BioSciences CMO has been named as Recursion’s new CMO. Mauro, who has 20+ years of experience in oncology drug development, will be tasked with leading the techbio company through clinical development. He previously worked as CMO for Checkmate Pharmaceutical, Prelude Therapeutics, and Advaxis.

Kyu Rhee: The former SVP and Aetna CMO at CVS Health has joined evidence-based weight care program Found’s medical advisory board. He will work with Found CMO Rekha Kumar and medical advisory board members to strengthen Found’s footprint in the clinical obesity care space. Rhee, who previously held leadership positions with IBM, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the National Institutes of Health, will also work to help expand access to Found’s weight management platform via partnerships with employers and health plans.

Yoshie Umemura: The former director of neuro-oncology at Michigan Medicine was named the new CMO of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center as well as chief of neuro-oncology and William and Joan Shapiro Chair of Neuro-Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute. Umemura will help grow Ivy’s clinical trials program.
